BGP tunnel service for ASN holders to announce their own IP prefixes globally

Homelab Friendly: We believe in supporting smaller organizations and individuals learning in homelab environments. Basic BGP tunnel services are offered free of charge for non-production use cases.

Overview

tunnel-edge.com is the landing page for Astrava's BGP Tunnel service, a solution designed for ASN holders who want to announce their own IPv4 or IPv6 prefixes through our global network infrastructure. This service is particularly valuable for individuals and organizations with dynamic or CGNAT-restricted home internet connections who still want to use their own registered IP space.

How It Works

  1. Establish a Tunnel: Connect to your nearest Astrava datacenter node via GRE, WireGuard, or other supported tunnel protocols
  2. Configure BGP: Set up a BGP session over the tunnel to announce your prefixes
  3. Go Global: Your prefixes are announced to the DFZ (Default-Free Zone) through our transit and peering connections
  4. Receive Traffic: Inbound traffic to your prefixes is delivered through the tunnel to your location

Ideal Use Cases

Homelab Services Host services on your own IP addresses despite having dynamic IPs or CGNAT at home
Learning BGP Hands-on experience with BGP routing, prefix announcements, and internet routing
Small Organizations Announce your organization's IP space without requiring dedicated transit circuits
Development & Testing Test network configurations and applications with real globally-routable addresses

Requirements

  • Public ASN: You must have a registered Autonomous System Number
  • IP Prefix: At least one IPv4 (/24 minimum) or IPv6 (/48 minimum) prefix registered to your organization
  • Valid ROA: RPKI Route Origin Authorization must be configured for your prefixes
  • IRR Entry: Prefix must be registered in an Internet Routing Registry

Pricing Model

Free Tier

For homelabs, learning, and non-production use. Reasonable bandwidth limits apply.

Production Tier

For production workloads requiring guaranteed bandwidth and SLA. Consider colocation or direct hosting.

Production Workloads: For high-bandwidth production traffic, we recommend colocation at one of our facilities or hosting services directly in a datacenter for optimal performance and reliability.
